A standard-length phone number used for SMS; what you actually rent when you buy a verification number.

A long code is simply a full-length national number (ten digits in the US) used for messaging. Unlike short codes it can both send and receive, and it looks like a person's number, which is exactly what sign-up forms expect you to enter.

Every number rented for verification is a long code from a carrier range.
