Disposable number

A number intended to be abandoned after brief use, especially the free public numbers shown on receive-SMS websites.

Disposable usually refers to free public numbers whose inboxes anyone can read on a website. They cost nothing, and that is their weakness: platforms blacklist them within days, and any code sent there is visible to every visitor.

A rented private number differs on both counts: the number is allocated to one customer for the activation, and the code is visible only in that customer's dashboard.
