How to Get a Ukraine Phone Number for SMS
Open the MarioSMS app, choose Ukraine and the service you want to verify, and rent a real +380 mobile number for one verification. The code shows up in the app, usually within a minute. If no SMS arrives before the timer runs out, the activation cancels and your balance gets the price back automatically. The table below lists today’s cheapest options.
The screenshot shows a +380 number waiting for a code, with its activation timer counting down beside it. Copy the number into the service’s sign-up form, request the code, and read it on the same screen. The web app at app.mariosms.com and the iOS and Android apps show the same view.

What you get with a rented +380 number
You get a real Ukrainian mobile line for a single SMS verification. That means one number, one activation window, and the code delivered to your app or dashboard. Once the code arrives and you enter it, the rental ends. The number is not yours to keep, and it will not receive later messages.
These numbers are mobile lines, not internet-only numbers. Many services filter out VoIP ranges, and that filtering is aimed at a different kind of number. The page on non-VoIP numbers explains how sign-up forms tell the two apart.
Who this guide is for: travellers, expats and teams
Travellers and expats use a +380 number when a Ukrainian service asks for a local phone and their own SIM is from another country. Other people use one to keep a second account separate from their personal number, for privacy. QA teams use them to test OTP flows on Ukrainian numbers from any office, either in the apps or through the REST API, which has Python, Node.js, Go and PHP examples.
What a Ukraine number costs right now
MarioSMS prices start at $0.04 per number. The exact price depends on the service, because demand and delivery rates differ from one platform to the next. The table at the top of this section shows the cheapest services for Ukraine right now and how many numbers are in stock. The full live list is on the Ukraine numbers page.
You only pay for activations that deliver a code. If the timer expires with no SMS, the full price goes back to your balance, and you can rent a new +380 number right away.
Why do services check the country of your phone number?
A phone number tells a service more than where to send a code. During sign-up, the platform reads the country code and the number type, then uses both to choose the language, the offers and the features you see. It also uses them to decide whether to send the SMS in the first place.
How a service reads the +380 prefix
Ukrainian numbers start with +380, followed by nine digits. The first two of those digits are the operator code. For example, 67, 68 and 96 to 98 belong to Kyivstar, 50, 66, 95 and 99 to Vodafone Ukraine, and 63, 73 and 93 to lifecell. Landlines use area codes instead, such as 44 for Kyiv.
Sign-up flows check the number against numbering databases in a fraction of a second. The lookup returns the country, the carrier and the line type. Many apps then set the interface to Ukrainian, show local prices in hryvnia and turn on features that are only available in that region.
Why real mobile numbers work where VoIP numbers are rejected
The line-type lookup splits numbers into mobile, landline and VoIP. VoIP ranges are cheap to buy in bulk, so many platforms block them at the form or never deliver the code to them. A number on a real Ukrainian carrier comes back as mobile, the same result as any local subscriber’s SIM.
| Number type | What the lookup returns | Typical result at sign-up |
|---|---|---|
| Real mobile (+380 67, 50, 63…) | Mobile, named carrier | Code delivered |
| Landline (+380 44…) | Fixed line | Often refused, or offered a voice call |
| VoIP or virtual range | VoIP | Often blocked or the SMS never arrives |
This is why a non-VoIP number passes checks that virtual numbers fail. MarioSMS rents real mobile numbers, so the lookup sees an ordinary carrier line.
When you need a Ukraine number in particular
You need +380 when the service ties its content or availability to Ukraine. Common cases:
- QA teams testing Ukrainian-language onboarding and OTP delivery on local carriers.
- Opening a second account on a Ukrainian classifieds or delivery platform without giving out your personal number.
- Checking regional pricing or a feature that only appears for Ukrainian accounts.
If a service only accepts local numbers, a number from any other country fails at the first screen, however real it is. Pick the country first, then the service.
How do you rent a Ukraine number in the MarioSMS app, step by step?
Steps 1 to 3: top up, pick the service, choose Ukraine
The app runs the same six steps on iOS and Android, and the timer only starts at step 4. As the screenshot shows, you pick the service first and then choose Ukraine from the country list. The app then shows the current price and stock for that combination.
Pick the service, then Ukraine in the country list
- Top up your balance. Add funds by card or crypto. You haven’t reserved anything yet, so no timer is running and the balance stays where it is.
- Pick the service. Search for the app or site you’re signing up to. Prices start at $0.04 per number and depend on the service and the country.
- Choose Ukraine. Select it in the country list. If that service has no Ukraine numbers in stock, check the Ukraine numbers page for what’s available now. The timer still hasn’t started.
Steps 4 to 5: reserve the number and enter it in the sign-up form
Reserving the number starts the timer. In the screenshot, a Ukraine number is held for you while the activation window counts down. The price comes out of your balance at this point. If no SMS arrives before the timer ends, you get it back automatically.
A Ukraine number, reserved while the timer runs
- Reserve the number. Tap to rent it. The number shows up with the +380 prefix and a countdown timer. Copy it.
- Paste it into the sign-up form. Open the service, pick Ukraine (+380) in its country dropdown and enter the rest of the digits. If you type the prefix twice, the form often rejects the number, so check the field before you request the code. Do this quickly, because the timer keeps running while you switch between apps.
Step 6: read the code and finish the sign-up
Once you’ve requested the code, go back to MarioSMS. The SMS appears on the number’s card, usually within a minute, as in the screenshot. It’s a one-time OTP, and the service can expire it on its end, so enter it quickly.
The code arrives in the app, usually within a minute
- Copy the code and finish. Tap the code to copy it, paste it into the service’s verification field and complete the sign-up. If the timer reaches zero and no SMS has arrived, the activation cancels and the price returns to your balance. You don’t need to open a support ticket.
Doing the same on the web app or through the API
The web app at app.mariosms.com has the same six steps in a browser tab. That’s easier when the sign-up form is on a desktop, because you can keep both tabs side by side and watch the timer.
QA teams can use the REST API instead. It has examples in Python, Node.js, Go and PHP, so a test script can rent a Ukraine number, read the code that arrives and enter it in the onboarding flow it’s testing. If no SMS arrives before the timer ends, the script can mark the run as failed, and the refund goes back to the balance.
Which services can you verify with a Ukraine number?
Each service has its own price and stock for Ukraine. A number reserved for one app can’t be reused for another, and some platforms accept Ukrainian numbers more readily than others. The table below lists the services with the most Ukraine numbers in stock right now, with the current price for each.

Start with the “Numbers in stock” column. A count in the hundreds means you can rent a number right away, and if the first one fails, you can cancel it and get another. A low count means numbers for that service run out quickly. Prices start at $0.04, and the most popular services usually cost more.
Messaging and social apps
Messaging and social apps tend to have the most Ukraine numbers in stock, because many people want a second account for work, community groups or testing. Each rental covers one SMS verification. If you later need to log in again with the same phone number, the rented number may no longer be available, so set up a recovery email and an authenticator app right after you sign up.
Marketplaces, email and everyday sign-ups
Marketplaces, email providers and food or delivery apps usually cost less per number. They often have fewer numbers in stock than the big messaging apps. If a service shows low stock for Ukraine, try these steps:
- Refresh the service list after a few minutes, because new numbers are added throughout the day.
- Rent one number and watch the timer. If no code arrives, the activation cancels and the price goes back to your balance automatically.
- Check the Ukraine numbers page to compare current prices across services before trying again.
- If stock is still zero, rent a number from a different country.
When to pick another country instead of Ukraine
Use a Ukrainian number when the service or the audience expects one, for example an account for a Ukrainian community or a QA test of a Ukrainian onboarding flow. If the country doesn’t matter to you, pick from the other 35+ countries in stock based on price and stock.
| Situation | Better choice |
|---|---|
| Account aimed at Ukrainian users | Ukraine number |
| Ukraine stock for the service is zero | Nearby European country with stock |
| Testing an EU onboarding flow | Country that matches the test market |
| Lowest price matters most | Whichever country lists the lowest price for that service |
Romania is one option for a nearby country. Our Romania guide covers the same steps, and the price for each service is shown on the same screen where you choose the country.
What should you do if no SMS arrives on your Ukraine number?
Most missing codes have a small set of causes. The number was typed wrong, the resend was pressed too early, or the service held the message back. Go through the steps below in order. None of them cost extra, because an activation that never receives a code is refunded.
The screenshot shows a Ukraine activation where the timer reached zero without an SMS. The status changed to cancelled and the price went back to the balance automatically. You don’t need to open a ticket or ask support for this refund.
Check the number format and the service you selected
- Copy the number from the app or dashboard instead of typing it by hand.
- Enter it as +380 followed by nine digits. Inside Ukraine, numbers are often written with a leading 0 (such as 067), and that zero has to be dropped after the country code. A number entered as +380 067 will not receive the code.
- If the sign-up form has a separate country dropdown, choose Ukraine (+380) and paste only the nine digits.
- Make sure the service you rented the number for is the app sending the code. The activation is tied to that service, so a code from a different app may never reach it.
Resend once, then let the timer run
Codes usually arrive within a minute. If nothing shows after one to two minutes, tap “resend code” in the service once. Pressing resend over and over can trigger rate limits on the service’s side, and a locked-out sign-up form won’t send anything at all. After that single resend, leave the activation open and watch the timer.
How the automatic refund works
Every number activation has a timer. If no SMS arrives before it runs out, MarioSMS cancels the activation and returns the full price to your balance. At prices starting from $0.04, a failed attempt costs you only the minutes you waited.
When to try a new number or another service
- Once the refund shows on your balance, rent a fresh Ukraine number for the same service from the Ukraine numbers page.
- If a second Ukraine number also gets no code, the service may be filtering that number range. Pick a nearby country with stock. The Serbia guide uses the same steps.
- If the code still doesn’t arrive, check that the service actually supports SMS sign-up in your region before you rent a third number.
What are the legitimate limits of a rented Ukraine number?
One number, one verification
A rented Ukraine number from MarioSMS covers a single verification. You pick a service, the number receives one code during its activation window, and then the rental ends. You don’t keep the number, and you can’t come back next month to receive a new code on it. Prices start at $0.04 because each rental is short and tied to one service.
Plan for this before you rent. If the service sends another code later, such as a login check, a password reset or a new device prompt, the rented number won’t receive it for you. Each new code needs a new rental, usually on a different number.
Why you should not rely on it for account recovery
Many services use the phone number on an account to recover it. If you forget your password or the service flags a login, it sends an OTP to that number. On a rented number, that message goes to a line you no longer control, and the number can later be assigned to someone else.
Before you finish setup, add recovery options you own:
- Add a personal email address you check regularly.
- Turn on an authenticator app for two-factor authentication if the service offers it.
- Save the backup codes somewhere offline.
- If you’ll need the account for years, replace the rented number with one you keep.
Acceptable use: privacy, second accounts and testing
Rented Ukraine numbers fit three kinds of use. For privacy, they keep your personal number off sign-up forms and marketing lists. They also cover second accounts for legitimate reasons, such as keeping a work profile separate from a personal one. For QA and OTP testing, developers can check that a sign-up flow sends and accepts codes for Ukrainian numbers, including through the REST API.
You can’t use a rented number to get around a ban or to pretend to be another person. The full rules are on the acceptable use page.
Ukraine phone number for SMS: frequently asked questions
How much does a Ukraine number for SMS cost?
MarioSMS prices start at $0.04 per number. The exact price for a +380 number depends on the service you are verifying, so a code for a messaging app can cost a different amount than a code for a marketplace. You see the price before you rent on the Ukraine numbers page and in the app, and you top up your balance by card or crypto.
How fast does the verification code arrive?
Most codes show up in the app or dashboard within a minute after the service sends them. The timer starts as soon as you rent the number. Have the sign-up form open first, then paste the number and request the code straight away. If the service has a resend button, wait about 60 seconds before you tap it so the first SMS has time to land.
Do I get my money back if no code comes?
Yes. Every number has a timer, called the activation window. If no SMS reaches the number before it runs out, the activation cancels by itself and the full price goes back to your MarioSMS balance automatically. You don’t need to file a ticket or ask for a refund. You can rent a new +380 number and try again right away.
Do I need to be in Ukraine to use a +380 number?
No. The number runs on a Ukrainian mobile network and MarioSMS shows the incoming code to you, so you can read it from any country. Enter it in international format, which is +380 followed by the nine-digit subscriber number. Some services also check your IP address or device region, and a phone number doesn’t change either of those.
Can I keep the same Ukraine number for later logins?
Assume you can’t. A rental covers one verification, and after the code arrives the number goes back into the pool. If the service sends a new code at a later login, you won’t receive it on that number. For an account you plan to keep, sign in and switch two-factor authentication to an authenticator app.
Can my QA team request Ukraine numbers through an API?
Yes. The MarioSMS REST API lets a test script rent a Ukraine number and read the incoming code without a person in the loop. The docs include examples in Python, Node.js, Go and PHP. QA teams use it to check that a sign-up flow accepts +380 numbers, sends the OTP, and handles a code that arrives late or never arrives.
