How to Verify Instagram Without Your Phone Number
You can technically create an Instagram account with just an email, but in practice Instagram demands SMS verification constantly: at sign-up from a device that already has accounts, immediately after sign-up (“suspicious activity”), or the first time you do anything at scale. For a second account (a brand, a portfolio, a test profile for your app’s Instagram integration) that means finding a number that isn’t already tied to your main account.
A rented virtual number handles it. Instagram sends its code there, you read it in your MarioSMS dashboard, and your personal number stays connected only to your personal account.
Step by step
- Start the sign-up in the Instagram app or at instagram.com. Pick “sign up with email” so email remains the account’s primary contact.
- When the phone prompt appears (at sign-up or right after), rent a number in the MarioSMS app: service Instagram, any country with stock.
- Enter the rented number in Instagram’s verification screen.
- Read the 6-digit code in your MarioSMS dashboard, typically under a minute, and enter it.
- Finish the profile with a username, photo, and bio. A filled-out profile trips fewer follow-up checks.
Undelivered codes cost nothing; the refund is automatic.
Keep the account healthy afterwards
- Anchor the account to an email you control and confirm it. Email is your recovery path; the rented number was just the gate.
- Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app (Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security), not SMS. Then no phone number is involved in the account’s security at all.
- Warm the account up like a human. Fresh accounts that instantly mass-follow or mass-DM get re-flagged regardless of how they were verified. Post something, follow gradually.
- One activation, one account. Instagram associates numbers with accounts; every MarioSMS rental is a fresh number, so brand and personal accounts stay cleanly separated.
Legitimate versus not
Brand and creator accounts, separated personal and professional presences, QA and app-integration testing, privacy: all normal. Engagement farms, impersonation, and scam profiles are prohibited by the acceptable use policy and by Instagram’s own rules. A rented number changes what Instagram sees during verification; it doesn’t change what Instagram allows.
