Fiverr asks for a phone number before a seller profile can go live, and it asks buyers too when an account trips its security checks. The code comes by SMS or by a voice call. For a freelancer who works from one country and sells to clients in many, a rented number handles that verification without giving a marketplace full of strangers a link to a personal line.
Fiverr keeps phone numbers private from buyers and sellers. Contact happens through Fiverr's inbox, and its rules forbid moving a conversation off the platform before an order. The number exists for Fiverr's own checks, which is what makes a number you do not keep a reasonable choice for it.
Where the verification sits
A new seller fills out a profile with skills, a description and a photo, then verifies the phone before the first gig can be published. Fiverr may also ask for a phone check when a buyer account sends many messages quickly, signs in from a new country, or pays with a new card. Both cases use the same short code.
Fiverr refuses many VoIP ranges and the shared numbers on free SMS sites. The numbers rented here come from real mobile carrier ranges. Pick the country you work from, such as the United Kingdom, so the number agrees with the rest of your profile.
One seller account per person
Fiverr's terms allow each person one seller account. A seller who opens a second one, to split niches or to escape bad reviews, risks losing both, and Fiverr links accounts by identity checks, payment details and device as well as by phone. A second number does not change any of that.
What fits within the rules is a buyer account for a company, kept separate from a freelancer's own seller account, or a team member's account inside a business setup. QA teams also test ordering flows on fresh buyer accounts. For those, a rented number is a clean way through the phone step. Our acceptable use policy covers the same ground.
After the code
Fiverr sends payouts to verified withdrawal methods, and those have their own identity checks that a phone number does not replace. Set up two-factor authentication in the security settings, and prefer an authenticator app where it is offered, so a sign-in never waits on an SMS to a number you no longer hold.
Keep the account's email current. If Fiverr asks for the phone again on a new device, rent a number in the same country at that moment, and the account continues as before. Prices by country are on the pricing page.

When does Fiverr ask for a phone number?
Before a seller profile goes live, and for buyers when an account trips a security check such as a new country or rapid messaging.
Can I have two seller accounts with two numbers?
No. Fiverr allows one seller account per person and links accounts by identity, payment and device, not only by phone.
Will buyers see the number?
No. Fiverr keeps numbers private and contact runs through its inbox.
What if the code does not arrive?
The activation cancels at the end of the window and the full price returns to your balance. You can then try another country or a voice call option on Fiverr's side.
