DoorDash SMS VERIFICATION Receive the DoorDash code on a rented number.

A real number, allocated to you for one DoorDash verification. Your personal phone stays out of it.

DoorDash confirms a phone number when you create a customer account and uses it for the rest of the account's life. Drivers call or text it when they cannot find your door, restaurants call it about substitutions, and DoorDash sends sign-in codes to it. Delivery calls go through masked numbers in many cases, but the number on the account is still yours to control, and some people would rather that not be their personal line.

DoorDash operates in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, and it owns Wolt, which covers much of Europe. A number from the country you order in, such as a US or Australian number, fits the check.

DoorDash sign-in code arriving on a rented mobile number

Where the number goes after signup

Once confirmed, the number receives order updates and codes whenever DoorDash wants to check a sign-in. Dashers see a way to contact you during a delivery, and the call or text is routed through DoorDash so they do not see your real number in most markets. Customer support may call the number about a refund or a problem order.

Because DoorDash texts sign-in codes, a customer account kept on a rented number needs a plan. Set a strong password and keep the account email current. If DoorDash asks for a new code on a new phone, rent a number in the same country at that point, or change the account's number to one you keep.

Numbers DoorDash turns down

Food delivery apps attract promo abuse, where one person opens many accounts to reuse new-customer discounts. DoorDash responds by refusing numbers it associates with that, including many VoIP numbers and public inbox numbers from free SMS sites. The numbers here are real mobile ranges, allocated to you alone for the activation window.

New-customer offers are meant for one person once. DoorDash cancels promotions and closes accounts it links to the same person, device or card, and a different phone number does not break that link. Use a rented number for privacy, a work account kept apart from a personal one, or testing an ordering flow.

Dasher and merchant accounts are different

Driving for DoorDash requires an identity check and, in most markets, a background check tied to your legal name. The phone number on a Dasher account should be your own, because DoorDash uses it for safety and payment matters. A rented number is not suitable there.

Restaurants signing up as merchants also verify the business. Developers testing a DoorDash Drive integration can use separate customer accounts to place test orders, and our pricing page lists current prices by country.

How to verify DoorDash without your own number

  1. Pick DoorDash and a country

Choose DoorDash in the app, then any country with live stock. Prices are shown before you commit.

  2. Use the number we allocate

Paste the number into the DoorDash sign-up form and request the code.

  3. Read the code in your dashboard

The SMS appears the moment it arrives, usually well under a minute. If nothing lands, the charge reverses automatically.

Do drivers see my real number?

In most markets DoorDash routes calls and texts between customers and Dashers, so neither side sees the other's real number. The account number is still what DoorDash uses to reach you.

Can I use a rented number for a Dasher account?

No. Dasher accounts go through identity and background checks, and DoorDash needs a number you keep for safety and payment matters.

Will a new number get me the new-customer discount again?

No. DoorDash links accounts by device, card and address, and it cancels repeat offers. Use the number for privacy or a separate work account.

What happens if no code arrives?

The activation cancels at the end of its window and the full price returns to your balance.
