Chile · +56 A real Chile number. Rented for one code.

Receive an SMS verification on a genuine Chile number (+56) without a local SIM.

Chile has one of the simplest numbering plans in Latin America. Since 2016 every number is nine digits, and every mobile starts with 9. From abroad a Chilean mobile reads +56 9 followed by eight digits, and there is no area code to think about. That makes a Chilean number easy to enter, and a service can tell at a glance that it belongs to a mobile.

Entel, Movistar, Claro and WOM share the Chilean mobile market. The numbers rented here come from real ranges on those networks, so a Chilean app sees an ordinary local mobile when it sends the code.

A number that starts with 9

A Chilean mobile looks like 9 1234 5678 at home and +56 9 1234 5678 from abroad. Santiago landlines start with 2, as in +56 2 2123 4567, and regional landlines use other leading digits. Most services will send codes only to the numbers starting with 9.

Forms with a +56 picker want the nine digits starting with 9. If a form was built for the old eight-digit mobile format, it may refuse a valid number, and there is little to do but use a different form or contact the service.

What Chilean numbers are used for

Delivery and ride apps that serve Chile, such as Uber and Rappi, ask for a local number, and so do Chilean classifieds and ticket sites. Businesses with Chilean customers put WhatsApp on a +56 line. Developers use Chilean numbers to check that a regional sign-up form handles the nine-digit format, which differs from Argentina's +54 9 pattern.

Chilean banks confirm identity with the RUT, the national tax number, so they are not a use for rented numbers.

Once the account exists

Add a recovery email and turn on two-factor through an authenticator app before the activation window ends. The account then does not depend on the rented number when it returns to the pool.

If a service asks for a code again later, for example on a new phone, rent another Chilean number at that point.

How many digits does a Chilean mobile have?
