Swedish mobile numbers begin with 07 at home and +46 7 from abroad. Swedish apps that serve the local market, from food delivery to classifieds, often expect that shape and confirm new accounts by SMS. A rented Swedish number receives that one code without a Swedish SIM, and without the personnummer that Swedish phone contracts ask for.

Four networks carry most Swedish mobiles: Telia, Tele2, Telenor and Tre. A number from any of their ranges reads as Swedish mobile to the service that looks it up, and that lookup decides whether the code is sent at all.

Rented Swedish +46 mobile number receiving an SMS verification code

Formats: 07 at home, +46 7 abroad

A Swedish mobile number is ten digits at home, usually written 070-123 45 67, with a prefix such as 070, 072, 073, 076 or 079. From abroad the leading 0 goes, so the same number becomes +46 70 123 45 67. Forms with a +46 picker want the nine digits after the 0.

Landlines have area codes instead, such as 08 for Stockholm, 031 for Gothenburg and 040 for Malmö. Services rarely send SMS to those, so when a code never shows up, check first that the number starts with 07.

Where a Swedish number gets used

Delivery apps such as Foodora confirm Swedish accounts by SMS, and Google often asks for a number when a new account is created. Businesses selling into Sweden keep a messaging or marketplace account on a local number, and developers check how a sign-up flow reads in Swedish, including the text of the SMS itself.

Norway, Denmark and Finland each have their own country code, and a Nordic service local to one of them usually checks for it. For a service based in Oslo, a Norwegian number is the better fit.

What BankID still does

Swedish banks, Swish payments and public services such as the tax agency log in with BankID, which is tied to a personnummer and a Swedish bank. The phone number plays no part in that check, so a rented number cannot stand in for it and does not belong anywhere BankID is asked for.

For apps and marketplaces that only want an SMS code, the number is yours for the activation window. Add a recovery email before it ends so the account does not depend on the number. If nothing arrives, the activation cancels itself and the price returns to your balance.

Do I keep the 0 after +46?

No. 070-123 45 67 becomes +46 70 123 45 67. In a Swedish-only field that expects 07, keep the 0 and leave out +46.

Can a rented number be used with BankID?

No. BankID is tied to a personnummer and a Swedish bank, and the phone number is not part of it. A rented number is for apps and marketplaces that confirm accounts by SMS.

Which networks are the numbers on?

Real Swedish mobile ranges, which belong to Telia, Tele2, Telenor, Tre and the brands that run on them.

What if the code does not arrive?

The activation cancels at the end of the window and the full price returns to your balance.
