Colombian mobile numbers are ten digits and start with 3, as in 310 or 320. In 2021 Colombia gave landlines ten digits too, all starting 60, so Bogotá became 601. A service can now tell a Colombian mobile from a landline by its first digit, and a rented number starting with 3 is the kind it will send a code to.

Claro carries the largest share of Colombian mobiles, followed by Movistar and Tigo, with WOM as a newer entrant. The numbers rented here come from real ranges on those networks.

Entering a Colombian number

A Colombian mobile is written 310 123 4567 at home and +57 310 123 4567 from abroad. There is no 0 to drop. Forms with a +57 picker want the ten digits starting with 3. A number starting 60 is a landline, and most services will refuse to text it.

The first three digits once showed the network, with 310 to 314 belonging to Claro, for example. Numbers can move between networks, so a service checks only that the number is Colombian mobile.

Services people verify with Colombian numbers

Colombian accounts on the big platforms are the most common case. Google and Amazon both ask for a number when an account is created from a new device, and TikTok uses the number's country as one of the signals for which regional feed and creator features an account gets. Rappi, which started in Bogotá, and WhatsApp Business accounts for Colombian customers are other regular reasons.

Colombian banks and wallets such as Nequi and Daviplata tie accounts to your cédula, the national ID. A rented number is for apps and marketplaces, not for those.

Before the activation window closes

Add a recovery email and turn on an authenticator app where the service offers one. The rented number returns to the pool afterwards, and the account should never need it again.

If the code does not arrive, the activation cancels and the full price goes back to your balance, as the refund policy describes.
