South Korea · +82 A real South Korea number. Rented for one code.

Receive an SMS verification on a genuine South Korea number (+82) without a local SIM.

Every South Korean mobile number now starts with 010. The older 011, 016, 017, 018 and 019 prefixes have been retired, so a Korean app expecting a local mobile checks for 010 and little else. A rented number in that range receives the SMS code for one sign-up, without a Korean SIM, which carriers sell only against a passport or a Korean ID.

Korea is also the country where a phone number most often turns out not to be enough. Many Korean services ask for real-name identity verification on top of the SMS code, and that step runs through the carriers themselves. Find out which of the two checks a service uses before renting a number.

Rented South Korean +82 10 mobile number receiving an SMS code

From 010 at home to +82 10 abroad

A Korean mobile number is eleven digits at home, written 010-1234-5678. From outside Korea the leading 0 goes, so the same number becomes +82 10 1234 5678. Forms with a +82 picker want the ten digits starting 10. Seoul landlines start 02, and other regions use 031 through 064, none of which can receive a verification text.

Three networks run nearly all Korean mobiles, SK Telecom, KT and LG U+, with budget brands renting capacity on them. A number from any of the three reads as Korean mobile to the service sending the code.

SMS codes and PASS identity checks are separate steps

A plain SMS check sends a six-digit code to the number and asks you to type it back. A rented number handles that. Korean identity verification, often called 본인인증, is different. It asks for your name, birth date and carrier, then confirms that the line is registered to that person, usually through the carriers' PASS app. A rented number is registered to someone else, so it cannot pass this check, and it should not be used to try.

Naver is a good example of the split. Creating an account asks for a phone number and a code, while some features and purchases later ask for identity verification. KakaoTalk registration works by SMS code, like most messengers.

When a Korean number makes sense

Developers and QA teams use Korean numbers to see a sign-up flow the way a local user does, including the Korean-language SMS text. People outside Korea use them to register apps that accept only +82 numbers for the first code. Games and fan communities with Korea-only registration are another common case.

For anything involving payments, banking or age-restricted content, Korean services require identity verification, and that needs your own Korean line or an alternative the service offers foreigners, such as passport verification.

Do I drop the 0 in 010 after +82?

Yes. 010-1234-5678 becomes +82 10 1234 5678. In a Korean-only field that expects 010, keep the 0 and leave out +82.

Can a rented number pass PASS identity verification?

No. PASS confirms the line is registered to your name and birth date. A rented number is registered to someone else. Use it only for plain SMS code checks.

Which networks are the numbers on?
