Since the SIM Registration Act took effect in 2022, every SIM in the Philippines has to be registered to a person with a government ID, and unregistered SIMs were deactivated in 2023. That made a Philippine number harder to get from outside the country. A rented one gives an app the +63 mobile it asks for, for the length of one code.
Philippine mobile numbers start with 09 at home and +63 9 from abroad. Globe, Smart and DITO run the networks, with brands such as TM, TNT and GOMO sold on top of them. The numbers rented here are real ranges on those networks.
Writing a +63 number
A Philippine mobile number is eleven digits at home, written 0917 123 4567. From abroad the 0 goes, leaving +63 917 123 4567. Metro Manila landlines start with 02 followed by eight digits, and they do not take verification texts.
Prefixes such as 0917 and 0918 started out on Globe and Smart. Mobile number portability arrived in 2021, so the prefix no longer fixes the network, and any 09 mobile reads as local to a service checking it.
Messaging and marketplaces
Filipinos message on Facebook Messenger, Viber and WhatsApp, and businesses selling to them tend to run all three. WhatsApp Business on a +63 number suits shops and remote teams that want a local contact number without a Philippine SIM.
Shopee and Lazada both operate in the Philippines and ask buyers and sellers for a local mobile. QA teams use Philippine numbers to check that OTP messages reach users on Globe and Smart ranges in the form they expect.
E-wallets and the ID check
Philippine e-wallets and banks go further than a code. GCash and Maya verify users with a government ID and a selfie before unlocking most features, and a rented number has no place in that. Keep it to messaging, shopping and testing.
If a code does not arrive during the window, the activation cancels itself and the price returns to your balance. Current prices for Philippine numbers by service are on the pricing page.
Do I drop the 0 after +63?
Yes. 0917 123 4567 becomes +63 917 123 4567.
Does the SIM Registration Act affect a rented number?
Registration is between the carrier and the SIM holder. The service sending you a code sees a Philippine mobile number and sends the code, without seeing who registered the SIM.
Can I use it for GCash?
No. E-wallets verify identity with a government ID and a selfie. Use your own number for them.
Which networks are the numbers on?
Real Philippine mobile ranges on Globe, Smart and DITO.
